The Township is accepting applications for the following position:
Mechanics Helper (Full-Time) - Department of Public Works/Division of Vehicle Maintenance
Salary Range: $14,560 - $50,000
Work Hours: 40 Hours
Work Week: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (or as assigned)
The Department of Public Works Division of Vehicle Maintenance is responsible for servicing the municipal fleet, as well as vehicles from the Boroughs of Spotswood and Helmetta, pursuant to Shared Services Agreements. The types of vehicles serviced include the following: Rear Load and Automated Refuse trucks, Pickup trucks, Law Enforcement Vehicles, and other Department sedan and SUVs. The Division is currently staffed with four full-time positions.
Under direct supervision, the Mechanic's Helper will be responsible for assisting and working closely with the mechanics involved in performing various mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and mechanized equipment, and other related duties as required. Prior experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following certifications: Certification as an Automotive Mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. G-1 Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, A-Series - Automobile and Lift Truck, E-Series - Truck Equipment, L - Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, L2 - Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostic Specialist, L3 - Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle, M-Series - Engine Machinist, T-Series - Medium Heavy Truck.
