The Christmas season is a time for joy, celebration, and family—but it can also bring an increase in residential burglaries. We want all of our residents to feel safe and secure during the holidays, so please take a moment to review these important safety tips.
Holiday Burglary Prevention Tips:
• Lock all doors and windows, even when you’re at home or stepping out briefly.
• Use exterior lighting—motion-activated or timed lights can deter unwanted visitors.
• Keep gifts out of sight from windows and doors.
• Set indoor lights on automatic timers to give your home a lived-in appearance when you’re away.
• Avoid posting travel plans on social media until after you return.
• Ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your home, collect packages, and report anything suspicious.
• Secure sliding doors with a dowel or security bar.
• Ensure security cameras and alarm systems are working properly.
Our officers will be increasing patrols during the holiday season. If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately by calling our non-emergency line (732)545-3200 or 911 in an emergency.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe and enjoy a peaceful, crime-free holiday season.
