The North Brunswick Veteran Street Sign Program hit a milestone on Monday, April 29 as its 100th ceremony was celebrated at the intersection of Cozzens Lane, Hartland Commons and Sabella Park Drive.

Family and friends gathered as North Brunswick honored U.S. Army veteran Bob Davis with the dedication of Davis Way.

Bob grew up in Flatbush Brooklyn and graduated high school from Erasmus Hall. He attended the University of Miami, Florida followed by a life-long fandom of that university’s sports teams and a successful career in business.

Bob served in the 11th Army Airborne Division.

Bob has served as a North Brunswick Township Councilman for twenty–one years, as well as Council President and a member of the Planning Board. Bob joined the Adams Athletic Club in 1988 and has been the chaplain for that organization for ten years and a Trustee for six years. Bob’s volunteer spirit was displayed when he coached Pop Warner football for five years. Bob found great enjoyment in leisure recreation, playing really bad golf with his friend Tom Kole which always brought smiles to his face.

Out of compassion for those who have served our country, and with an understanding of the magnitude of their sacrifices, Councilman Davis began North Brunswick’s Veteran’s Street Dedication Program in June of 2014.

Today, as we celebrate our Township’s One Hundredth Veterans’ Street Naming dedication, we honor Bob for his service to our country and to our Township. One of Councilman Davis’ greatest accomplishments has been tirelessly working to support all Veterans and the Veteran Street Dedication Program has been dear to his heart, along with the Paver Brick Project at Veteran’s Park, which also honors those who have served and sacrificed for our nation through their military service.

Bob is a loving man, dearly loved in return for many years by his late wife Linda, and now by his son Brett Davis and his wife Amy and their children, Tovah and Louis; by his son Adam and his wife Carly and their children, Dylan and Parker; by his loving companion Nan Kopel; by those who have the privilege of serving with Bob in the North Brunswick municipal government; by his friends in sports and civic organizations; and by all the people of North Brunswick.

We thank Councilman Davis for his service to our country and North Brunswick community!

Thursday, April 25 was Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day!

The children of Township employees had a great morning at the Department of Public Works with a hayride, checking out Township trucks, vehicles and heavy equipment, learning about recycling and picking up litter.

The North Brunswick Boost goes on location this week to Community Park with special guest Dave Rosenberg, president of the North Brunswick Baseball & Softball Association.

Mr. Rosenberg discusses the NBBSA as well as the Autism Awareness Challenge, a showcase for high school baseball and softball players, which was held last weekend at Community Park.

The North Brunswick Boost welcomes special guest North Brunswick Township High School principal Michael Kneller to the show this week.

Mr. Kneller discusses the school’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on April 19, the NBTHS Designer Bag Bingo & Basket Raffle on April 20 as well as other school events over the next month.

Mayor Womack and the Township Council honored James Tracey at the April 15 Township Council Meeting for his efforts in overseeing the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart and Kids Heart Challenge.

James has been fundraising for the American Heart Association (AHA) for the past seven years where he began this initiative as a Physical Education Teacher at Arthur M. Judd Elementary School and has continued as a Physical Education Teacher and Health Teacher at Linwood School. For 2024, he surpassed the$ 4,000 goal set by Linwood, raising $4,246.31 to date.

James has been a part-time employee for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for 25 years in the Division of Recreation where he started as a camp counselor in 1999. He has been involved with the Leal, summer camp, aquatics programs and Township special events.

North Brunswick honored United States Air Force veteran Timothy Awojobi by dedicating Livingston Avenue and North Oaks Boulevard as Awojobi Way on Monday, April 8.

Timothy was born in Union, New Jersey and attended Union High School.

Mr. Awojobi enlisted in the Air Force in February 2016 after graduating from Kean University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He completed Basic Military Training and Technical Training School (Lackland AFB), graduating in the top tier of his class on September 13, 2017.

Timothy, from January 2018 through June 2019, completed and became a distinguished graduate from Kean University with a Master of Public Administration degree. On August 21, 2021, Mr. Awojobi was called to Active Duty to support the Afghan refugee mission which was deemed a Title 10 global war humanitarian crisis. Mr. Awojobi was honorably discharged from active military duty on February 1, 2022. Currently, Mr. Awojobi is the CEO/Founder of TTA Empire Inc.; a veteran and minority owned nonprofit specializing in veteran’s outreach, educational scholarships, and mental awareness.

Timothy’s assignments included Joint Task Force, PERSCO / Village 1,2,3/ Supply 9 Mobilized Contingency, August 2021 – February 1, 2022 and served in support of Operation Allies Refuge/Operation Allies Welcome – Contingency Operation, Title 10 USC, August 2021 – February 1, 2022.

Timothy received the following distinguished awards: Air Force Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with oak cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with a silver oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with a silver oak leaf and one oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.

Timothy in his leisure time enjoys working out at the gym, cooking, traveling, volunteer/charity work, and listening to music.

The 2024 Earth Day Celebration, hosted by the North Brunswick Parks, Recreation and Community Services, was a fun filled educational morning on Saturday, April 6 at the Pulda Farm.

The Community Gardeners started preparations for their 2024 gardening season.

Thank you to the many groups that supported the North Brunswick Earth Day; North Brunswick Senior Center Gardening Club, North Brunswick Youth Municipal Alliance Committee, North Brunswick Open Space Committee, North Brunswick Environmental Commission, Girl Scouts of New/North Brunswick, North Brunswick Public Works, DPRCS, Rutgers Master Gardeners and the wonderful student volunteers.

Residents are encouraged to conduct litter clean ups in their neighborhoods. Please support your community in becoming litter free.

At the March 18 Township Council meeting, North Brunswick Patrolman William Trammell was sworn in as Sergeant, Police Detective Seeta Jones was honored for her years of service and the Linwood School Student Congress and advisers received a proclamation for assisting in the school’s Mitten War competition, which collected mittens, gloves, hats and socks for the Municipal Alliance annual clothing drive.
