The Township is accepting applications for the following position:
Mechanic – Department of Public Works
Salary Range: $31,200 – $75,000
Work Week – Monday – Friday
Work Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm or As Assigned
Under direction performs varied mechanical work involved in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment working with various machines and hand tools common to the trade; does related work as required.
Successful completion of one (1) year of training in automotive technology at an accredited community college or vocational school. Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, cranes, road graders, power shovels, or similar equipment. Diesel experience a plus.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following certifications, Certification as an Automotive Mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. G-1- Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, A Series – Automobile and Light Truck, E-Series – Truck Equipment, L-Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, L2–Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostic Specialist,
L3 – Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle, M-Series–Engine Machinist, T-Series–Medium Heavy Truck.
A valid CDL Driver’s License in the State of New Jersey. The ability to lift up to
Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, cranes, road graders, power shovels, or similar equipment.
Note: Applicants who do not possess the required year of formal training may substitute one (1) additional year of experience as outline above.
An Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in one of the following specialties from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence may be substituted for the formal training: A-1 Engine Repair, A-6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, and A-8 Engine Performance.
